What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

There are many wonderful benefits of Reiki. Reiki is a very simple process, but usually produces quite profound effects. The main purpose of Reiki is not only to heal diseases, but also to promote a positive mind and healthy body so that people can experience joy in life.

However, Reiki does not promise a miraculous cure from disease. Conditions that have taken years to manifest in the physical body cannot be cured in a few sessions. The person has to want to be well and will probably also need to make some lifestyle changes so that the source of stress and negative emotion (dis-ease) does not recur. It takes time for the Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual bodies to be brought back into balance.

What to Expect During a Reiki Healing Session?

You will be asked to lay down on a massage table , couch, or bed. You will be fully clothed except for your shoes. You may also be asked to remove or loosen your belt so that your breathing is not restricted in any way. It is best to choose loose-fitting garments to wear on the day of your appointment. Wearing natural fabrics is best (cotton, wool, or linen). You may also be asked to remove any jewelry (rings, bracelets, pendants, etc.) prior to the session, so consider leaving these items at home.

What Happens After a Reiki Healing Treatment?

Many clients wonder or question what they may expect or experience during or after their Reiki session. Quite often people are unwilling to submit themselves for alternative therapies simply because they are afraid - afraid from the unexpected or the unknown. But fear is merely caused from a lack of awareness, a lack of knowledge, a lack of education or a lack of understanding. I often state that people should be involved in their own healing program, where they accept responsibility by actively participating. Of course many are resistant to this and would rather let the practitioner create the "miracle" healing. But to fully comprehend the importance of being involved so that success can be accomplished, people should realize that they must become proactive with educating themselves - this is part of being responsible to self. So here are some helpful tips to follow after receiving a Reiki healing session. Included is a daily protection plan designed to protect, cleanse and balance you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If practised on a continuous daily basis, they will help you to maintain and enhance your overall well-being.

Healing Wands

Healing wands gather and direct energy. The elongated, cylindrical shape of a wand enables the stone or crystal to direct its healing energy in a straight line, and the wand's point focuses the crystal's energy so that it can be used on specific areas of the body.

Methods of Healing with a Crystal Wand:

Crystal wands can be used in many different methods of healing. They can be used to heal the entire body or aura, or they can be used on a specific area of the body, or on a particular chakra. They can be used to scan the aura and the chakras to locate blockages, and then cleanse and heal them.

Choosing a Wand:

Wands come in a wide variety of stones and crystals, so there are many different wands to choose from. Different stones have different healing energies and, therefore, have different effects on the body, aura, and chakras. As each gemstone has different healing properties, it is nice to have a variety of wands to use for a variety of different purposes. You might, therefore, wish to build a collection of wands made from a variety of gemstones.

Getting to Know Your Wand:

Before using your wand, you may wish to spend some time with it to become familiar with its energy and to harmonize with it. The better you know your wand, the more effectively it will work for you. You can hold it while you meditate, or just sit holding it and feeling its shape, texture, and weight, and visually examining it to familiarize yourself with any patterns or changes in color it may have. You can also sleep with your wand, or even take a bath with it. Spending time with your wand will not only help to you become attuned to it, but you will also be receiving its healing energies at the same time.

Programming a Wand:

It is the power of one's intention that drives the energy of a wand, so it is a good idea to program your wand for its intended purpose, especially if it is specific.

Cleansing and Recharging a Wand:

Crystal and gemstone wands should always be cleansed and recharged after usage, especially when it is being used on multiple people or for multiple purposes. Otherwise, any harmful or negative energies the stone has removed from one person may be transferred to another.  The best way to recharge your wand is to leave it out in the sun for an hour or so, or leave it out under moonlight for an entire night, which works best when the moon is full.

Healing with a Wand:

There is no right or wrong way to work with a wand. There are, however, a few common basic methods. These methods are not set in stone, but are merely a rough guideline to help you to get started. A big part of working with stones, whether or not you are using them for healing, is listening to your intuition. The energy vibrations of a stone will speak to you if you listen. As you work with your wand and gain experience using it, you will eventually come up with a method which works best for you and your wand(s).

To heal a specific condition (on yourself or someone else):

1. Begin by drawing the "bad" energy out of the affected area. Do this by holding the wand over the wound (it is not necessary to touch the body with the wand) with the point pointing away from the area being healed. While doing this, picture in your mind the crystal drawing the negative energy out of the body, through the crystal, and then out the pointed tip. Some people also draw a circle or spiral in the air above the wound by waving the wand in a counter-clockwise direction as they move it over the afflicted area. Some people speak out loud in prayer, or repeat the intention, or speak other words of healing. Again, there is no right or wrong way to do this. Use your intuition and go with what you feel is best.

2. To replace the negative energy with positive energy, and thereby heal the problem area, do the opposite. Hold the wand point down over the afflicted area as you visualize healing energy coming down into the crystal, through it, and then into patient's the body in a focused beam of energy. If you waved the wand counter-clockwise when drawing out the negative energy, then wave the wand over the area in a clockwise motion. If you spoke words during the removal of the bad energy, you may wish to also speak words while the problem area is infused with healing energy. Use your intuition to determine when the healing is complete. It could take anywhere from one minute to 15 minutes or even longer. After completion, some people say a prayer of thanks.

To scan the aura and chakras to locate and heal blockages:

  • It is easiest to have the patient in a laying down position. Begin wherever on the body you wish and hold the wand horizontally over the patient, but not touching the patient. Slowly move the wand over the entire body. As you do this, take note of any areas in which the wand feels different. It may vibrate, or become warm, or feel harder to move, or feel heavier. These are the areas where there are blockages in the aura or chakras.

  • Once you have finished scanning the aura, go back to the blocked areas and use the wand in the same way as above, first removing the negative energy, and then replacing it with positive energy.

An alternate way to scan the aura:

1. With the patient lying down, hold the wand point up and move it over the body slowly in small counter-clockwise circles beginning at the feet. Whenever you feel that there is a blockage, pause at the area and remove the negative energy as before. If you feel the need to change the wand's movement, then do so. Once the area feels clear, return back to the counter-clockwise movement and continue scanning the body up towards the head, stopping again whenever you sense there is a blockage.

2. When you reach the crown of the head, reverse the wand so it is pointing downward, and swing the wand over the patient's body in small clockwise circles, working your way back down to the feet. This will recharge the energy fields in the aura and chakras. If you once again feel an area of blockage, turn the point back upwards and remove the bad energy until it feels cleared. Then turn the point back downwards and return to waving the wand in small clockwise circles over the body, beginning with the area that was just unblocked.

Again, there is no right or wrong way to do this. Just listen to your intuition to find the way that is best for you.

Orgonite

The word orgonite comes from “orgone”, the name given by Wilheim Reich to vital energy found everywhere in nature.  It can be neutral (OR), positive (POR) or negative (DOR).

Orgonite is a mixture of catalyzed resin with metal shavings, poured into molds. Crystals, essential oils, high vibration organic materials can be added to the mixture for their ability to make the energy more coherent or to enhance the working of the orgonite. Thus, orgonite basically is a substance which functions as a self-driven, continuously-operating, highly efficient energy transmutation device, emanating the energy of a set intention. The resin in orgonite shrinks during the curing process, permanently squeezing the quartz crystal inside, which creates a piezoelectric effect inside the crystal, meaning its endpoints become polarized electrically, this apparently causes it to function more effectively as a positive energy generator.

Many people notice positive emotional effects in the presence of orgone generators. Mood and emotions tend to elevate. Some people who have trouble falling asleep report that they can sleep better and more soundly with an orgone generator in the bedroom. Plants grow more vigorously in the vicinity of an orgone generator. Some people bring them to work and notice that the office environment becomes friendlier and less competitive.

Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. It integrates vita flex (reflexology) and massage, utilizing the power of young living essential oils in bringing the body into structural and electrical alignment.

Raindrop technique, where a variety of essential oils are applied undiluted to the back and feet with various techniques of massage, addressing the therapeutic needs of one's whole body, inside and out.

Meditation Therapy

Below is an example of a meditation used in meditation therapy.

Release and Renew meditation by Lisa-Ann Hodges

Find a comfortable place, sitting or lying down whichever feels best for you.  Start by closing your eyes and take three deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.  With each inhalation breathe in new clean energy and with each exhalation release any negative energy.

Visualize through your mind’s eye that you are opening a gate and stepping into a beautiful garden.  This garden is your soul.  Take a look around.  How does your garden grow?  Is it lush and beautiful?  Or is it limp, neglected and in need of care?  How your garden appears within is a direct reflection to what is happening in your outer world or body.  Take note of your garden soul surroundings as it will change after this meditation.

Ahead of you, you see a wall of water, step into this wall of water and allow the water to flow over and through you.  Allow the cleansing water to run through your crown chakra, breathe deeply and allow it to cleanse and clear that chakra completely.  Take another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your third eye chakra.  Take another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your throat chakra.  Take another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your heart chakra. Take another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your solar plexus.   Take another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your sacral chakra and finally another deep breath and allow the flow of energy and water to cleanse and clear your root chakra allowing any negative energy to run down through your feet chakras and into the earth to be renewed and restored.  Once your chakras are clear, step through the water wall where you find 5 steps.

Slowly and with intent of going deeper into a meditative state take the first step while taking a deep cleansing breath, allowing yourself to sink deeper into a meditative state. Take step number two along with a deep breath releasing your physical self, going deeper still.  Step number three along with another deep breath releasing your mind and any chatter that remains, even deeper.  Step number four along with a transformational breath releasing lingering emotions.  We're almost there.  Finally take the last step, step number five and one last releasing breath leaving behind the worries of the physical plane, you are there.  Welcome to the safety of your release and renew mediation.

You have now stepped into a majestic meadow surrounded by mountains which houses a waterfall that turns into a beautiful stream.  Step with confidence into the meadow knowing you are safe and at peace.  Feel the warm sun upon your face, listen to the birds and smell the wildflowers upon the calm breeze.  Take a few deep breaths and bask in the beauty of this special place.

You notice a path in front of you that leads to the stream and beside it is an amazing tree, this is the tree of life.  Follow the path to the tree and sit with your back against it, feelings it's power and strength.   Allow your feet to dangle in the stream if you feel guided to.  Take a few deep breaths and connect with the energy of the tree of life and deeply with our Mother Earth and father God.

You feel guided to pick up a large leaf that has fallen from the tree of life.  Instinctively you know that you are to perform healing work within based on negative emotions you have been carrying around.  You look down and see an opening to your soul between your heart and solar plexus.  You reach within and find a dark sticky substance that is related to anger.  You begin to remove the substance while pulling out any anger that has stuck to you.  Take another deep breath and identify the anger you have been carrying around, pull it from you, feel it and then release it by placing it upon the leaf.  Take as much time as you need to release the anger you have been carrying around.  Take one more deep releasing breath and place the dark substance upon the leaf in your other hand.  Thank your higher self for having the strength to face your anger and release the leaf onto the stream.  Take another cleansing breath and set the leaf free to Mother Earth.  Watch as your anger slowly drifts away to be cleansed.

You feel guided to pick up another large leaf that has fallen from the tree of life.  Instinctively you know that you are to perform another emotional release.   Take another deep breath and reach within and find a dark sticky substance that is related to guilt.  You begin to remove the substance while pulling out any guilt that has stuck to you.  Take another deep breath and identify the guilt you have been carrying around, pull it from you and place it upon the leaf.  Take as much time as you need to release the guilt have been carrying around.  Take one more deep releasing breath and place the dark substance upon the leaf in your other hand.  Thank your higher self for having the strength to face your guilt and release the leaf onto the stream.  Take another cleansing breath and set the leaf free to Mother Earth.  Watch as your guilt slowly drifts away to be cleansed.

You feel guided to pick up one more large leaf that has fallen from the tree of life.  Instinctively you know that you are to perform one last emotional release.   Take another deep breath and reach within and find a dark sticky substance that is related to fear.  You begin to remove the substance while pulling out any fear that lingers within.  Take another deep breath and identify with the fear you have been carrying around, pull it from you and place it upon the leaf.  Take as much time as you need to release your fears.  Take one more deep releasing breath and place the dark substance upon the leaf in your other hand.  Thank your higher self for having the strength to face your fears and release the leaf onto the stream.  Take another cleansing breath and set the leaf free to Mother Earth.  Watch as your fear slowly drifts away to be cleansed by Mother Earth.

Take a few deep breaths and give thanks to the tree of life, your guides, Mother Earth and your higher self for releasing emotions that have clouded your soul.

Rise up from the stream and continue down the path towards the closest mountain.  Take note of any animals you see along your walk as they are assisting in your process of releasing and renewing.  Enjoy the journey, breathe deeply, feel the lighter you that has unburdened your soul from life force draining emotions.

As you reach the mountain, you see a rope ladder in front of you and to the left a winding path.  Instinctively you know to climb this mountain, allow your higher self to guide you as to which way to climb the mountain.  If you chose the ladder, it reflects that you accept challenges in life. If you take the winding path it reflects that you prefer things to flow easier and prefer the path of least resistance.  Neither path is the correct path as they both lead to the top of the mountain, it is your choice and perhaps you may choose a different path the next time depending on where you are in your life.

Continue to breathe deeply and continue to climb the mountain.  Observe your surroundings but also trust that you are safe as you climb.  Once you reach the top you see a beautiful area that contains a beautiful sphere of light.  This is your personal power.  It is time to renew your personal power now that you have made room for it by releasing emotions that no longer serve you.

Take three deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.  Step into the light.  The sphere now expands and surrounds you entirely with light.  You feel the bright beautiful light permeating every cell in your body.  You bask in the energy, breathing it in and feeling it renewing your soul.  Enjoy the moment, feel the light and love that you are restoring in you.  Take a very deep breath and with it absorb the light.  Enjoy your new-found peace, balance and restored personal power.  Take another moment to be grateful to your higher self, guides, Mother Earth, father God and all that helped in this process.  Your personal power has now been renewed.  Turn back to the two paths and chose how you would like to descend the mountain, again it does not matter.

Following the path through the valley, taking in all the sights and smells, knowing you can return to this safe and magical healing place at any time.

Once again, be in a state of gratitude as you reach the stairs, thank everyone and everything that aided in this renewing and restoring meditation.

Slowly start to climb the stairs and breathe deeply with each step.  Five… Four… Three… Two… One.  You are now coming back to reality.  Slowly step through the wall of water and allow your chakras to be recharged.  Take a few deep breaths and again allow the water to flow through and around you touching and recharging each chakra.

You have now returned to your soul garden.  Do you notice any differences from when you first entered?  Hopefully your garden is refreshed and now looking renewed and recharged.  Take a moment to again take a deep breath, observe your garden and remember how you feel is reflected in your soul garden.  Be gentle with your thoughts and with your soul garden.  From now on you will consider your soul garden as you progress through your life and will check in often to ensure it is healthy and happy as your personal power has been restored.

Exit through the gate that you first entered at the beginning of this meditation and return to your body in the physical world.  Take a few moments to wiggle your toes and fingers.  When ready take a deep breath, and open your eyes.  Slowly and carefully sit up when you are ready.  Drink plenty of water and remember the beautiful work you did today in renewing and restoring yourself.

Thank you.

Soul Retrieval

What is a Soul?

A Soul is the part of us that exists without our body, even though it is encompassed by our body now. Our soul is the energy that allows us to follow our dreams and our passions, it connects us to our higher purpose. Our soul can also leave our body during times of stress and trauma. This is called soul loss.

Healing the Soul

A soul retrieval is a powerful spiritual practice that heals soul loss. Soul loss can occur whenever we experience trauma in our life.  We can experience soul loss if we are in an accident, during anesthetic or suddenly losing a close friend or family member, abusive relationships, divorce, stressful careers etc.  From a shamanic perspective, soul loss is a common cause of illness. A shamanic practitioner conducts a soul retrieval seeking lost soul parts that are willing to return from any point in life.

Working with Soul Loss

Soul loss allows our essence to remove itself from suffering and pain but in doing so it can cause emotional and physical problems in our everyday world.  We need all parts of our soul to be complete and balanced.  Soul retrieval brings back the lost parts of us that are needed to make life complete, enjoyable and healthy.

Soul loss is the experience of an essential part of us leaving, and soul retrieval is the experience of having that essential part retrieved and returned to you.  Many of us feel like we are missing an important part of ourselves or feel like we are not quite whole.  Sometimes we experience soul loss as a chronic illness or face ongoing emotions such as sadness and anger.

Soul Retrieval

Soul loss can occur at any age, and a soul retrieval can be done whenever a person is ready for transformation.  Sometimes we remember specific events in life that changed us – for the worse – physically, emotionally and mentally. Then, we realize we’re ready to heal, be inspired and move on!

Preparing for a Soul Retrieval

Here are a few suggestions that will help you prepare for your soul retrieval:

·         Choose a time for the soul retrieval where you can have time for yourself afterward and be open to the experience

·         Refrain from alcohol and other mind-altering substances 24 hours before and after your soul retrieval

·         Ask for a healing dream to help you receive your soul essence the night before your soul retrieval session

Receiving a Soul Retrieval

The process takes 15 – 30 minutes depending on the client, it involves, drumming, rattling and whistling (this calls in spirit guides).  All you need do is relax and be open to receiving the lost part of your soul while the shaman looks for the lost soul in the spirit worlds with the help of their power animals and spirit guides.

When the part of your soul is found, the shamanic practitioner and their helping spirits engage with the lost soul and invite it to come back home.  At times, a lost soul may be cared for in the spirit world by an ancestor, power animal or guardian.  Sometimes a lost soul has been stolen, and the shamanic practitioner and spirit helpers will negotiate its return.

The shamanic practitioner returns with the essence that is a part of you.  They will return this vital essence to you by blowing it into your heart and the crown of your head.  They may also blow it into a crystal to transfer the essence back to you.

Welcome your soul back with an open body, heart, and mind.  A discussion afterwards takes place advising of what was found along with a message from spirit or the lost soul.  You may feel a strong creative force or a deep inner knowing that returns to you. It may be an excited, vibrant, younger part of you returning to life.
